Ticket to Work

Ticket to Work is a free, voluntary SSA program that helps disability beneficiaries aged 18 to 64 return to the workforce. Participants connect with approved service providers, called Employment Networks, or with state vocational rehabilitation agencies, which offer career counseling, training, resume help, and job placement support.

The program includes important protections: while you are making timely progress in the program, SSA generally will not initiate a medical continuing disability review, and work incentives such as the trial work period and extended period of eligibility still apply. Using the Ticket to Work program does not mean SSA thinks you can work, and it does not by itself affect your benefits. It is designed to make attempting work less risky.
